HI, I'M NICOLE
I am a writer for children and young adults, as well as an Early Childhood Educator. You can find me writing in my Journal, usually with a cup of tea nearby. I love animated movies. Some of my favourites are The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella and Sing 1 and Sing 2. I also enjoy crafting and designing, especially with my Cricut machine. I love to bake and I love listening to the ocean.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always had my nose in a book. My mom introduced me to books at an early age. I remember we would always get a book while grocery shopping. Back then, books were sold in the grocery stores. I was five years old. I enjoy reading. It is my escape from the world. My favourite books are Mystery, Detective and Lawyer stories and movies, too. My mom and I could not miss Jessica Fletcher, which we affectionately called it, even though we know it’s called “Murder, She Wrote.” I also love Romance novels. Who doesn’t, right?
My journey as a writer all began at the tender age of 12, when I began writing my day-to-day activities in an old notebook. It became my ritual every evening after school, Saturday and Sunday mornings. This became my little comfort. Fast forward to many years later, when I became a stay at home mom with my twin boys, I began a writing course with a writing institute. I submitted a sample of writing and waited anxiously for the results. The results finally came, and to my surprise I was accepted. I was actually getting signals of writing courses, before this happened. Everywhere I looked, it was like a writing course was popping up as an advertisement on the computer, and in the mail. And I never did anything about it until I was home with my children. The reason being is that I never thought I was good enough or even considered myself as a “Writer”. I never thought I would even get accepted. When I got my Writing Diploma, I was so happy. I published my first book myself, in 2018, and have never looked back. And so my Passion for books has led me to open my own Bookstore. My dream is to have a Bookstore Lounge and Tea Spot, where you can sip your coffee/tea and have a few delicate pastries.
MY CHILDREN'S BOOKS ARE MEANT TOBE READ AS A READ-ALOUD AND AS BED TIME STORIES FOR THE YOUNGER AGE GROUP FROM 4 YEARS TO 8 YEARS OLD.
9 year olds may like it too. The Early Years are the best years to read to your children. I also came across a study that said reading to your children while pregnant, helps your child to form a strong connection to reading and learning, after your child is born.
My stories are centered around empathy, self-esteem, and having courage. I gather story ideas from my childhood, my own kids, my niece and nephews and the children that I come across in my profession, as an Early Childhood Educator. I hope to have a positive impact on children, helping them to read and helping to break barriers in literacy, as I am a staunch advocate on literacy.
